Kira I'm a little late to the party, but I'd like to add my input, because I read the book in 8th grade, and I was only 12 (I was the youngest in my class). It does have some "graphic" (for a lack of better words) concepts, in the fact:

*spoilers!*

The doctors do put legions on the brains of the "pretties" during their surgery to keep them dumb, in book 2 sex is mentioned for one sentence in passing ("She warned me not to get drawn in. She warned me about sex"), and nanobots to start destroying someone's brain, and in the third book there is graphic self-harming.
~~

If the 6th grader has worldy experience, or you are willing to explain concepts to them, it's perfectly fine! My sister read it before I did (she was 14) and she talked to me about it, so even at 12 I could understand what was going on.
Incee yes, there is nothing in here that would be too adult or high-concept
