Goodreads asked Laura Taylor:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Laura Taylor 1. Keep writing. I once heard that the only reason you should try to become a writer is because you would keep writing for the rest of your life even if no one ever paid you a single cent for it.
2. Learn to accept feedback humbly. Hearing that there's something wrong with one of your stories is always a painful experience, but if no one tells you what's wrong, it's hard to improve it.
3. Learn to write in different styles. I once spent a year learning to write screenplays. It's a completely different ball game from writing novels, with massively different techniques, but what I learned in the process has made huge improvements to my novel-writing style.
