How do you decide which mythology to write about?

Rick Riordan I go with what I know and what I feel most strongly about. Sometimes the timing is by chance, too. Left to my own devices, Norse would've probably been the first mythology I wrote about, because it's the first mythology I loved, but since my son was studying Greek, I wrote Percy Jackson instead.
