Rick Riordan I don't really plan ahead what sort of characters will be in what books. It's not I say, 'Okay, I need one of this and two of that and...' The characters usually inform me who they are once I start writing about them. The thing about representation, too, is that there are ALL KINDS of life stories that deserve to be represented.
