Stacy Sagoo
Stacy Sagoo asked Jonathan Stroud:

Did you have an idea of how the overarching story of Lockwood and Co. would pan out when you started writing the series or do you write each book as the story comes to you in regard to the characters development and relationships? I am 30 years old and I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book series so much!

Jonathan Stroud You're very kind. It's half and half, really. I have a vague idea of where the story's headed, but I deliberately don't worry about it too much, because each book needs to work on its own merits, and that means improvising and changing direction. When I was working on The Hollow Boy I had a dim idea of what would be in Book IV, and now that I'm starting Book IV, I'm sketching out some ideas for Book V. It's important to have some kind of road map, even if there are lots of possible ways to reach your destination.
