Hello! I'm a librarian in Sofia, Bulgaria. We are using your books "The other side" and "Each kindness" to help facilitate discussions about friendship, doing the right thing, being inclusive, etc. The students have really enjoyed both books. And in "Each kindness" they were wondering if the little girl Chloe was based on yourself when you were a young girl? They thought Chloe looked a lot like you!

Jacqueline Woodson Ask the students if another person has ever been unkind to them. Then ask if they've ever been unkind to someone. If the students are honest, all hands will go up with each question. At some point, all of us are Chloe or Maya. So Chloe and Maya are both based on all of us. I think Chloe looks more like my son when he was young than like me! xoJacqueline
