Nina asked Kristen Ashley:

Hey Kristen, I just finished rereading Jagged and even though I like both Zara and Ham, I can't help but feel like he doesn't completely love her. In their argument about Fed he didn't say that he didn't love Feb or he didn't want to lay roots with her, he said that she wouldn't give him what Zara was giving him. Does that mean he wanted that from Feb? Was Zara "his one" or would Feb do?

Kristen Ashley Well, girl, Ham did say that love was a show and not a tell. Even when he had his head up his backside, if Zara needed him, he dropped everything to be there for her. And it was clear it tore him up to walk away from her when she found another man.

When Feb got back with Colt and she told Ham that, this was a wakeup call to him. Not exactly him losing Feb to Colt but it brought to mind this had happened before, that he'd let his baggage get in the way of his feelings for a woman.

This isn't to say he didn't have feelings for Feb, deep ones, and it would be a lie for him to say he didn't. He might have cared a great deal for Feb, loved her to some extent, but he wasn't IN love with her. She wasn't the one. With the way Ham sorted himself out and didn't dillydally in taking the second chance Zara's divorce gave him, I think if he wanted Feb, he would have made a play for her, gone all out to do that, Colt in her life or not.

But it wasn't Feb for him, it was Zara. She was the one. And when he figured that out, he went all out to win her back. He didn't do it with a lot of flowery words and vows of devotion. That's not him.

He's a show guy...he doesn't tell. You read his actions, which speak louder than words. Zara was it for him. No other.
