Cintia
Cintia asked Elizabeth Holloway:

Hi, my name is Cintia and I'm from Argentina. Being a writer is what I want the most in this world, nothing makes me happier than writing, but I'm more and more frustrated with each passing day, because I've been blocked for 3 years. And it is not that I have an unfinished story. I have NOTHING AT ALL. A blank page in front of me, that only makes me sadder... Is there a way to overcome this? How do you handle it?

Elizabeth Holloway Hi Cintia!
I feel your pain. Writers block is evil. EVIL, I say! If you can't tell, I have suffered from this particular affliction myself.
I find it usually shows it's ugly head when I'm stressed or overwhelmed, which is a hard thing to avoid as an author with deadlines, a mother, and a nurse with a full-time job.
What I've noticed works best for me is destressing. Just reading a book will sometimes kick my muse in the butt and get me writing again. Sometimes all it takes is a long, hot, shower. But sometimes, I need to take a break and declutter my life a bit. But, when all else fails, I find it's really helpful to just write. Whatever comes to mind. It doesn't have to be good. Describe your breakfast. Write a silly dialog between your pets. Anything to get those juices flowing.
Hope this helps!
