Cintia
Cintia asked Maria V. Snyder:

Hi, my name is Cintia and I'm from Argentina. Being a writer is what I want the most in this world, nothing makes me happier than writing, but I'm more and more frustrated with each passing day, because I've been blocked for 3 years. And it is not that I have an unfinished story. I have NOTHING AT ALL. A blank page in front of me, that only makes me sadder... Is there a way to overcome this? How do you handle it?

Maria V. Snyder Hi Cintia. I'm sorry to hear you've had writer's block for 3 years! I get blocked from time to time and use a couple "tricks" to get me started again. I don't think they will help you since you're not working on anything. Have you tried using Writing Prompts? There's also a great book titled, The Writer's Idea Book by Jack Heffron that might help you get started again.

Do you journal? Sometimes, just writing down random thoughts and observations in a journal can get you started - also don't be super hard on yourself to produce wonderful sentences and stories - just write...write anything even a book review or movie review or a letter to a friend. There's no editor looking over your shoulder - no one has to read it - just have fun and be silly! You'd be surprised what comes out!

I hope you're able to get past the block and do what you love!
