Eoin
Eoin asked Mary Robinette Kowal:

Are there any major differences you've noticed between American writing markets and the culture therein, and those abroad?

Mary Robinette Kowal Saying, "those abroad" makes it sound like there's a great big monolith of "not-America," when really every place has it's own fashions. I know that there ARE differences, but since I write for American markets I haven't tried to break down the differences.

That sounds like I don't care, or that I think that being American centered is a good idea. So I just want to be explicit that the reason I focus on American markets is because that's where I live and the culture within which I grew up. I'm still learning how to write. Trying to get a handle on my tools AND on how a different audience responds at the same time? I'm not that good yet.

Someday, I really hope I can answer this question.
