Hi Cornelia, Where do you get inspiration for creating worlds like the Inkworld? You describe it so vividly! I also just wanted to thank you for your books. Your stories brightened my childhood and I often go back to reread them whenever I need something to liven up my day. I will forever be appreciative of the worlds you create and the inspiration to write that you've given me. Thank you so much, Monica

Hi Monica!
The Inkworld was inspired by many things: me being a bookeater, book making, illuminated manuscript (in short the history of books) the middle ages, Northern Italy, fire eaters, martens, the art of writing, Beppe Fenoglio (a Ligurian writer) fascism and what it does to people, my upbringing in Europe, my relationship to my father etc etc etc etc
as you see, all fictional worlds feed on nothing but reality. The incredible, storytelling, breathtakingly beautiful and at the same time cruel universe that creates us and our stories!

What inspires you to keep writing? I love writing and hope to become a writer of fantasy someday. But what really draws me in, is why? Why do you do it? I do it because it pulls me in and lets me put whatever I want onto paper. It makes me feel... magical, in a way. But does every writer feel that magic while writing, or is that just me? Thank you!
