Hi Lila,
It makes me so happy to hear you enjoyed TBMLT--that book has a special place in my heart (as they all do, come to think of it). Mr. and Mrs. Garrett do have a backstory, and I've thought about it a lot, actually. They met in high school, of course, and Jack had just moved up from the South. And the story goes on from there. I think about writing it sometimes, so I won't say much more than that, but yes, like Samantha's missing dad, I've thought of a story for everyone.
