What was your inspiration for writing the Heart & Soul series?

Hi James - thanks for asking!
When I was about 18 yrs old, I read Johanna Lindsey's 'Warrior Woman', and that book opened up a whole new world for me. I previously had only ever read historical and contemporary romances. Star Wars opened up another world - that of mixing different cultures and creatures and people from vastly different worlds, the mixing of technology and everyday life, the dangers and thrills and fights, the spaceships and star travel.
I daydream a lot, and one day this character popped into my head - a young warrior of a wanted race of women, pretty, strong, but with everything against her, taken from her home, running from the law and soldiers. The hero popped up fairly quickly, a species of people who were traders, who lived by their own rules, yet in a universe that was governed by a set of laws brought into place by the variety of worlds in the universe (though not every world). When I decided to write Heart of an Outlaw, the fact that I could create a whole new world with laws I made, was right there before me. Before I was halfway through Heart of an Outlaw, the sister of the heroine caught my interest, and from there the series was born. Strong heroines, strong heroes, a universe to explore, the dangers, the unexpected, the situations I could create - the only limits were my imagination. It's a wonderful place to be!
