I love inkheart and i was wondering where u came up with the idea for it? Did u have any inspiration?
Cornelia Funke
I had been thinking about a story where characters come out of books for quite a while, Liz. And while I was writing ThiefLord some motives showed up that wouldn't fit into the story....but later fit perfectly into Inkheart. I wonder how often one story steals into another and the writers don't notice!:) Anyway- I also saw Fire eaters on a medieval market in Germany, which made me realize which profession Dustfinger has. Ink heart came together from many sources, not just from one idea or image - as some stories do.

Hi! The Inkheart trilogy is a series which never continues to amaze me, no matter how many times I re-read it . It has shaped my world more than any other book has ever managed to . And as someone who aspires to write books , I just wanted to know - Where do you get your inspiration from? And how do you shape your ideas into wonderful worlds and books which leave us mesmerised ? Thank you!

Before I ask my question, I'd just like to say I LOVE the InkWorld trilogy. I read them back in fifth grade and will be reading them again! I'd just like to know, where did you get your inspiration to write them? I always like to know how authors get inspired to write their books! p.s.: I heard you're making a sequel to Dragon Rider. Super excited about that!!!

Hi Cornelia, I was just wondering, have you ever considered trying to turn Inkheart into a German movie? I myself am not German, but I am learning it at school and I love Germany. Could that ever be a possibility? I must say that I thoroughly love the Inkworld series and I've read it at least once every year for 6 years (I bought it when I was 10). I just think that would be really cool. Thank you!! Natalie
