Goodreads asked Mark Brandon Powell:

How do you get inspired to write?

Mark Brandon Powell I have been making up stories since I was a child playing with my Lego's (granted I'm still playing with Lego's). I never really wrote anything down though, and if you would have asked me ten years ago I would have said I hated English back in school. There was one English teacher that I had in college that really enjoyed a work of fiction that I wrote about King Arthur, and said I had a real talent for it. I then proceeded to ignore that advice for the next ten years, where I crafted stories to help me get to sleep at night to push through my insomnia. From there I found my wife, and wanted to pursue something that I felt driven to do. After a month of meaningful reflection, I landed on writing, and I am here today because of it.
