I was in the middle of "Redemption Ark," and they kept referring back to characters and events from "Chasm City," so I've gone back to read CC, then I'll pick up RA again. For that matter, I suppose you could begin with "The Prefect," although as I recall that really is fairly free-standing. You do want to read the main trilogy -- "Revelation Space," "Redemption Ark," and "Absolution Gap" -- in order, or there will be major spoilers. [Yes, I know this answer is 2 years late!
