Has anyone who has read this book also read Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet? This sounds like a similar story...just wondering if it is?

The story line is more captivating and while I enjoyed The Japanese Lover, this book just did not capture me the way the other books written by Isabele Allende. She remains one of my favorite authors, though, and I recommend this book, but suggest Hotel over this book (if you have to pick one!) (less)
