Kate Evans When I was in 6th grade, I would have liked this book, but I had read quite a bit of YA then. It really depends
Kayte I think it depends a great deal on the 6th grader. Ther plot is definitely darker and more violent when compared to Shadow and Bone (which is often shelved for middle grade readers). There isn't any sexual content, and while present on the page, the romances mostly take a backseat to all the action. The plot centers around a drug developed to enhance the powers of Grisha, so the topic of addiction is explored. The target audience is older than 6th grade (with cross over to adult), but a 6th grader with a lot of YA fantasy reading experience could enjoy.
