Are Ballister and Ambrosius former lovers who end up back in a romantic relationship in the epilogue, or is this "queerbaiting", i.e. heavy-handed hints at queer romance that are characterized as friendship to appease potentially homophobic readers? I was sure the characters would speak their feelings for each other by book's end and was surprised to see the last panel of the epilogue paint them as *FRIENDS!*
