(view spoiler)[If facebook would existed in 97 all the drama could had been avoided, right? But that is not the point of this. My question is: Why Grace, I don't know, go with Dan to the National Geographic and ask for Matt, so Dan could adopt Ash (<-I luv the name ;)? She followed his career, so she knew where he was all the time. Maybe it was too hard for her? (hide spoiler)]

That's a great question. I think had Elizabeth not written Grace back, Grace would have assumed her letters were never read and maybe Grace would have pushed further, but since she did get the "move on with your life letter," that Elizabeth wrote as Matt, and assuming Grace wrote several more letters explaining that her and Matt had a child, I'd believe that the rejection she felt was enormous, thus preventing her from pushing even more. I imagine if I had a child whose father continually rejected and ignored my requests to talk to him that I'd probably give up too. But Matt and Grace are flawed because they are human. Had they made all the choices we think they should have made who knows how it would have ended. It might have been fated this way. :)

Hi Renee! I discovered you last year and you've become one of my favorite authors. I love the fact that your storylines aren't the standard, cliche, predictable ones like many other writers AND in New York! It's different and interesting and I love it. But my question is, how do you manage to deviate from the predictable norm that most authors do? What inspires you?
