There are many theories that Percy is manipulative and has a dark side which only small parts are revealed. Was this your intention, or just was a characteristic which you never thought of and just came unintentionally with time as you wrote?

I think all of us have a dark side. That's just human nature. But you see things from Percy's POV for the whole of the first series. I think if he was manipulative you would know that. I don't think he is. He's pretty genuine.
