I haven't read the third book yet (but it's next on my pile!), so I don't know if you've answered this question in it. At the end of the second book, Diana and Michael come back to the present where time has kept passing while they were in the past. If Diana can time travel, why couldn't she just travel back to the instant they left for the past?
