Christian Mellbris I've used this book as class-reading material for my literature classes. My pupils are 15-19 years old and most of them thoroughly enjoyed it.
Leksi As a young adult, I found Blankets to be a great read because of my curiosity towards life's "big questions" and how other people deal with them. Thomson's brushstrokes are absolutely gorgeous, and he captures the rush and restless torment of being young and in love with nothing but honesty. However, along with that frankness comes lavish yet dismissal towards teenage romance, concluding it to be merely lust. This dismissive tone continues throughout the portrayal of religion as well, which may be trying for someone who is early in their development of their views on spirituality. Yes, there is nudity, with some of the scenes that go along with it beautiful, yet others grotesque. Please, flip through a bit of the novel before handing it to a teenager, especially to anyone younger than sixteen.
Will I wouldn't let my teen read it. It's super heavy and has sexual situations.
Just because it's about teens doesn't mean it's appropriate for them to read. That's silly. Maybe for a 19 yr old, but certainly not younger teens.
Jessica Maison I think this was created with high school students in mind. I wish I had read it at the time. I was going through a lot of the same stuff.
Mars Most definitely! I read it when I was 13 years old and it is now one of my favorite books. I think that it is an important book to read as a teenager because the book touches on many topics that are controversial, but extremely relevant to teenagers. There is a sex scene, but it is much more sweet and emotional than vulgar or offensive. I hope that this answer helped.

Jamie I agree with some of the other people. I think it is a good book and it can show a lot to teens and help raise some questions and could help kids speak out about things that may be bothering them that they had previously not talked about.
Shadowjac For older teens yes, but it's to sexual for young teens.
Jay Okumura It is a book appropriate for teens with mature minds
Alycia I think/hope this is the kind of book teens and tweens will find on their own, and really like it. I think they can learn from it and maybe it will encourage them to write and draw their own stories.
Greg Yes, absolutely. It's a memoir about being a teenager.

However, there are issues that are not appropriate for younger kids or tweens.
