Terryls The prologue infers that the key came from Reverend McDermott. “The door swung silently inward before her on oiled hinges. The Reverend McDermott was careful about such things. But then, he needed to be.” Those lines are our clue that he is a part of the espionage ring with Rachel, Kat, and Pierrepont. McDermott is an Irish name, so his motives may align with Kat’s.
