Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Thomas Jast My most recent book was actually a fantasy novel. I thought it was great but one of my partners thought it needed extensive work. My basis was having a fantasy book that was very low-level, with the "fantasy" aspects downplayed and used as plot elements for industrial uses of these magical abilities. My style of writing doesn't seem to lend itself to sweeping epics, as it's more character-driven and sometimes the big picture doesn't get the focus it needs.
