No, this book can be read without reading Skin Tight previously. I believe that this book is absolutely amazing and it's definitely a must read.

I read this one first, then I read Skin Tight like a prequel. In my opinion, it doesn't ruin or spoil anything. I think Skinny Dip is better, though I did enjoy Skin Tight. For me, Hiaasen's best is Double Whammy. It is the first Skink book. Very funny. I guess Stormy Weather would come after that.
