Write. Just write. I firmly believe in the idea that you need to write a million words of craps before you start to write anything decent.
So write it. Have someone you trust in your edit/review process... And be willing to let your babies go. Some of what you wrote won't stand a chance of publication and will die painfully if you self-publish.
