A Goodreads user asked Drew Karpyshyn:

Of all the characters you have created (be it in a book or video game) which is your absolute favorite and why?

Drew Karpyshyn Tough question - I've got a lot of characters I'm really attached to. I'm going to exclude my video game characters, since the most well known are Revan and Shepherd, and so much of these characters is dependent on player choices.

Darth Bane is my most popular and successful novel character, but I didn't create him - he already existed in a series of Dark Horse comics. I just fleshed him out.

In my Mass Effect novels, I really like Grayson. His character arc through Mass Effect: Ascension and Mass Effect: Retribution is one of my favorites.

In my Chaos Born fantasy series, I really like Scythe. She's probably the most fun to write, because she does the things I wish I could do if I wasn't worried about consequences. If you're into kickass female characters - or classic fantasy in general - you should check out Children of Fire, book one of the trilogy.
