Goodreads asked Ravi Bedi:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Ravi Bedi 1. Read a lot of good books.
2. Build a solid plot
3. Write, keeping the economy of words uppermost.
4. Cut, cut, and cut again till you retain the juice of the story. Rest is excess baggage for which you pay by losing audience.
5. Stick to the meat of the story.
6. Show, don't tell. Use active voice.
7. Read a lot on the net about good writing.
8. Re-write the whole thing and edit it fifty times till you're fully satisfied. (There's nothing like a final draft).
9. Don't think you've written a masterpiece. Let others judge your quality.
10. Be prepared to get the pink slips.
Last: Start allover again...or better listen to music or do some gardening.
Best luck.
