Gordon asked:

Is this guy legit or a quack?

Stuart Black Legitimate. I suspect some bias on the part of the author when choosing which studies to cite (informally) in the book, but as a student of medicine I can, to a reasonable degree, certify that the science is all sound. Also, the logical and pragmatic layman would, I'm quite sure, agree with the content of the book; it doesn't request or require any leaps of faith by the reader in order for her to fully engage and sympathise with the overall notion that exercise is positive for the brain in the numerous ways proposed.
Aaron It's legit. Everything he talks about is backed by lots of research.
