Nicole I don't think so, I was not really fond of the first one and the second one went downhill for me. After the first book I was actually giving up on the trilogy, but I made the stupid decision of buying the three of them together, so I felt like it was a waste of money to give up this early and the least I could do was read. Not worth it. Now it looks like a waste of money and time!

I was hoping her heart would be a little more decided in this one...Uh-uh not happening. The book itself was just a bunch of indecision and worthless happenings. About the action... Well, there was much more but in some specific moments. VERY SPECIFIC.
Ysaure The second book is definitely worth reading. I get why you would think that it just indecision, but the second book is definitely worth it, especially for one specific character that is introduced. It is kind of slow moving, but it definitely goes uphill.
Lorean I think the second book was much better than the first one. If you at least kind of liked the first book, you should keep reading.
Catherine DeCorte It's a good book but it also felt like a waste; like a filler or a lame bridge to the third book. There was little plot to it and even less momentum for an ending because most of it really could have been summed up within the first half or two-thirds of the book. The main purpose of this book was character development, especially for Alina and Mal.
Lynxie Brat If you didn't like the 1st, then don't bother with the 2nd...as it is mainly a continuation of the 1st book anyways. I like both books though kind of prefer the 1st one and would have liked more world building and explanation of Grisha training as well as more detail on the different groups of Grisha...but other then that I like it.
Amanda I think that in some ways, this book was stronger than the first, with more action and less teetering between Mal and the Darkling while we readers sit back wondering why. So if that's what bothered you about the first book, you might like the second better.

On the other hand, I tend not to take the time to continue series that I'm not 100% into, so if you're just not feeling it, I'm not going to push. There are so, so many books out there. Find one that does it for you!
Perry Yes. The trilogy gets better as you progress through the volumes.
Shirin Eralieva If you didn't enjoy Shadow and Bone, then don't bother.
Iris Yes absolutely! Nikolai!
Lauren⋆˙⟡♡ I know this is from 5 years ago but I found this one MUCH better than the first. I loved it!
