Isabella asked Kate Quinn:

Hi, I thought that 'Mistress of Rome' would always be my favourite, but then came 'Lady of the Eternal City'! My question is: Of all the emperors you've written about (Julius, Hadrian etc...) which one did you find most interesting and why?

Kate Quinn Hadrian, probably - because he was the most contradictory, the most enigmatic, and the hardest to get a handle on. Which made him also the most maddening emperor of them all to write about, but still the most interesting!
