are you going to time travel back to Norman Italy, as well??

I would love to (not actually, of course given the brutality of the times but perhaps as a butterfly on the wall). I've been reading as much as I can find on Sicilian history before my upcoming trip there in October, and as a result have become embroiled in the history of Italy and the Mediterranean, the Ottoman Empire, late 15/early 16C Spain under Isabella & Ferdinand, etc. etc. Isn't this the beauty of good books?! Venice and Genoa have always figured within my interests (pre-modern China because of the various trade contacts) so it was a natural extension in many ways just as I was looking for one.
