I see the point but its perhaps inevitable we will try to place this book in time. I am only near the beginning, but 2 guys making little money are able to move into an apartment (albeit a very shabby one) in Manhattan immediately makes me think this was part set a few decades previously. Then again, an openness towards homosexuality contradicts that. Enjoyable so far though. I guess characters matter, not place in time.(less)
