Hi, Misty! WOW!!!!! Your My Hero!! I feel like I love you so much. I am in awe of your story and you as a person! I'm so happy you got to tell the Amish how it was. Even if they think your "worldly", your words did not fall on deaf ears. What ever happened to Fanny? Also was Brian molesting her too? Also did you ever find your Dad? Hugs Lisa

Hello Lisa
Nice to hear from you. As for Fanny I have not heard anything for almost 9 years. After several attempts to rescue her I was advised that my mom and Brian could get a restraining order against me if I did not stop. I did not want to give them that pleasure so I quit.
It greatly saddens me that the government allowed Fanny to stay on the mountain and be mistreated all for the sake of freedom of religion. I do not think our forefathers meant this when they wrote the constitution.
As for Brian molesting her I know he was. It is a shame that he took advantage of someone so sweet and innocent and later after I left the Amish I found that he had been wanted for child molestation way back in the 50s. When I wrote my police report I don't think it even came up because it was to old.
As for my father I have not contacted him yet. it has been 29 years since I last saw him and I am to afraid of rejection at this point. Also I have no illusions to what kind of man my father was. While he was good to me the very idea that my brother was born when my mother was 15 and my father was her 26 year old stepfather. It just makes me a little sick to think of it.
Anyway on a lighter note. I am doing much better than I feel I deserve at times. I am publishing two more books in the next month or so and am so grateful on how well this book is selling. I really hope it will open peoples eyes and help others who have come from difficult situations. It was very hard to write it but I thank God for giving me the strength.
Blessings

Have you ever gone to therapy? If not, I would greatly suggest it. Whilst a therapist may never be able to understand the elements of the Amish, they do understand the reality of pain and evil in this world. Evil people make the concious choice every day to be evil, so please do not take it upon yourself to suffer for their sins. The strength you show in face of this all is truly inspiring.

I was curious if you have ever reconnected with your real father?

An inspiring read that sheds light on a closed community where victims are completely powerless to speak out. Were Brian and your Mamma ever investigated or charged for abuses against you, Samantha, your Aunt Fanny or your Grandma? What are they doing now and did they react to the book?
