Goodreads asked N.C. Patterson:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

N.C. Patterson Write. I see so many "writers" who have ideas but never sit down to finish anything. Also, finish what you start. Your ideas are still no good if you are constantly jumping ship on every new project. (I've done this before.) Finally, don't be a perfectionist. Your story will never be "perfect," and if you wait until it is you will never submit it to a publisher. Send the story in when you feel it is solid, with good writing, but not perfect. I've seen talented writers go by the wayside because they didn't want to ever submit anywhere because they were too afraid or the story wasn't "perfect." The number one key in living as a writer is being willing to take chances and put yourself out there.
