In the TV show Rick Castle writes a series of books based on his relationship with detective Kate Beckett, featuring a detective named Nikki Heat and a writer named Jameson Rook. As a tie-in with the series someone is ghost writing the Nikki Heat series under the name Richard Castle. They've also released the Storm series referred to in the TV series. (less)
