I am an author, mostly of Historical Fiction because I've always loved the past and wondered what is you're favorite aspect of writing fiction set in another time and culture such as you're novels of China?

We tend to learn history in terms of wars, dates, and the generals, kings and presidents who made the “big” decisions. But if you take one step away from the front line of history, you see women, children, and the elderly. All of those people are participating in history too, only their stories are often ignored as “unimportant.” I feel very honored and privileged that I get to tell those stories. They are important to me as a woman, wife, mother, and now grandmother.

Dear Lisa - I have only just found the Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. I am mesmerised. I have been fascinated with the ethnic minority groups in the Golden Triangle area since visiting N Thailand and Kunming in 1989. How did you find out so much about the Akha to write such a detailed account? Do you find that publishers are open to these stories? I find them closed minded to such a story especially in this time period
