Funnily enough, the first one that comes to mind is one I read when I was only 18 or so. The First Deadly Sin by Lawrence Sanders was a real thriller. What I had been reading mostly up to that time were more strictly mysteries. Stout, Christie, and Ross Macdonald, who is my all-time favourite writer. Of his books, the one I think is the real standout is The Chill.

Dear Mr. Barclay, I emailed you once several years back to inquire whether there would be any further Zack Walker books and was told there would not be. Seems like there are A LOT of ZW fans so maybe that will change? I really just wanted to comment on the amount of fans for that series and to tell you that I STILL laugh whenever I recall the scene in book 2 when he faked the fall down the stairs, with the backpack.

The accident re-ignited my passion for reading. I have since read almost all of your books, currently on Fear the Worst. I find your writing style so easy to follow and I never find myself lost in the plot. Anyway, I love a variety of genres of books and wondered if you have ever considered doing something outside of the mystery/thriller category? Maybe a horror or sci fi book?
