Goodreads asked Jamie Farrell:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jamie Farrell The idea for SUGARED evolved as I was doing world-building for Bliss, the town where the Misfit Brides series is set. Bliss calls itself the Most Married-est Town on Earth, and the local economy basically revolves around the wedding industry. Every year, Bliss hosts Knot Festival, where dozens and dozens of couples come to elope or to plan their weddings, and where newlywed men compete in the Husband Games, a series of domestic and romantic challenges with the ultimate winner being named Husband of the Year. Instead of Main Street, Bliss has The Aisle (which has a hundred-foot-high wedding cake monument standing at one end). All the best jewelers and florists and bridal boutiques have storefronts on The Aisle, including Heaven's Bakery, which Kimmie Elias's family has run for decades. The more I got to know about Kimmie's mother, about the town's history, and about the dynamic on The Aisle, the more I knew I needed to write Kimmie's story. It will be hysterical, but also heartwarming and emotional. Kimmie and her hero aren't the only two people who need to grow and change in this story, and writing it will be both a challenge and probably the most fun I've ever had while writing.
