She is a migrant, she loves her hometown, she loves that she is being attached and someone there, even more so when she comes back from America. I have a migrant background myself (short version: born in former YU, came as a child to Germany, loved my life there but felt torn, went back to home when 24 for 6 months and realized, I have become too much German so went back there) and you never loose this feeling that you cannot have both worlds and that you have to chose the one that is better for you.
