Based on the last paragraph of the novel, do you think Eilis happily returned to Tony and she realized she made the right decision? I am trying to make peace with the ending. "She has gone back to Brooklyn...these words would come to mean less and less to the man who heard them and would come to mean more and more to herself."

Erin I am in the same boat.....Given the fact that Eilis seems to be making peace with Tony throughout the novel, I think she is satisfied, but not entirel…moreI am in the same boat.....Given the fact that Eilis seems to be making peace with Tony throughout the novel, I think she is satisfied, but not entirely sure she made the right decision. Almost like she focuses on "what is" vs. what could have been. That being said, I believe, like the ending, Eilis isn't ever really sure....I wanted her mother to come with her so I would feel a little better :)(less)
