Hey Kristen..! I am an aspiring writer... and I love your writing style.. I love how you freelance between genres without losing the romantic element..! I am still struggling to find a safe writing style for myself.. And I'm also from India.. Hence English isn't my first language and sometimes I wonder whether my vocabulary is inadequete... So any advice..?? And how did you begin the journey..??
Kristen Ashley
I have tons of advice! I could go on forever with it...though I don't know about writing a book in a language that's a second language to me so I can't help you out with that. But I'll do my best to give you some insight.
I'm always re-categorizing these in my head as to most important but the two coming to mind from your question are:
1) Find YOUR voice and embrace it - be inspired by other writers, you can't not be inspired. They'll fill your senses. I know they have mine. But find YOUR style. Tell YOUR story how you want to tell it. Be YOU in your writing.
2) Write what YOU want to read. Don't worry what others will think of it. Write something that you read and think, "Well, heck. That's a little bit of ALL RIGHT!" You never know what will happen in this biz. You can hit...you can find your niche readership...or things could go awry. But the bottom line is for you to do what you love, write what you love and enjoy the hell out of it while you're doing it.
The freedom I felt when I let go of the "rules" and told the stories that came from my gut and my heart, nothing better!
So take some time to free yourself to be YOU and tell YOUR story. If nothing else, you'll fall in desperate love with writing. But there is also the possibility that you put that beauty into it, readers will eat it up!
Good luck!

Kristen I am such a huge fan of you and your books. I am in love with your Colorado Mountain series and my question to you is how many more books will there be? I also have a question about Nina and Max.what gender was there 2nd child? I am pretty sure they never mention it, they just talk about them and there 2 children in all the other books. Unless I missed it and need to re-read it.

Hi Kristen! If you have answered this I'm sorry! I was wondering at the end of Deacon, you didn't have an Epilogue into the future for Deacon and Cassidy. Was that because of Nick's book or will we get a glimpse into Deacon and Cassidy's future in Sebring? Just curious if they had kids, etc. It is so crazy how much these we all crave knowing about the future of these people that don't even exist! Lol.
