Emma I was so confused and had to reread so many chapters because i thought it was a typo or i had mixed up about them! But i actually wanted her to end up with the prince so i'm glad it's rafe.
Tanisha I'm another reader who fell victim the Mary E. Pearson's creavity/totally sly writing style! I was utterly confused and stunned at the reveal that Rafe was the Prince and Kaden was the Assassin.
Which actually make me kinda sad... I mean it's more interesting when a princess falls for an assasin rather than for a prince ..
Leticia Porter SAME!!! I was just wondering this last night when I read that part and I was like wait....what. And then I was thinking is it just me, Did I miss some crucial part where it is given away? And then I was like how tf did she pull this off without slipping any hints. One day I'm going to go back and read it to try and see if she did slip at all and give them away because I was completely fooled
Lia K I just reached this part and I was utterly confused. I literally went back through the book to see if it was some sort of typo.

Julie no, thats the whole point. the author was deceiving you, just like how the characters were being deceived. that what makes this book so freaking cool and good.
Emma OMG!! I didn't realize the truth until chapter 44, because even as Kaden appeared with all Vendans and speaking their language, I thought he was the prince having had infiltrated with the enemy. That's how far Mary E. Pearson deceived me...
It wasn't until Rafe's point of view showed he was with Sven that I realized up to what point I could be manipulated. I spent about 1h hour (no kidding) trying to sort up Rife and Kaden with their correspondent thoughts exposed in the book.
Jada oops i looked it up before reading not knowing it was supposed to be plot twist

Liza Okay am I the only one who didn't realize that there even WAS a mystery? I was just certain Rafer was assassin and Kaden was prince and I didn't have any doubts whatsoever
m15hha I was right there with you. It was rather shocking to find out and I actually had to put the book down to process what was happening. Luckily Rafe is the prince because I was silently shipping them (guilty haha).
Josephine OH MY GOSH!! ME RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND READING THE BOOK, RUSHING STRAIGHT TO GOODREADS TO MAKE SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!!!!!!

StarFruit My strange thinking while reading this was that Rafe was too obviously the assassin to be the assassin. Likewise, Kaden was too obviously the prince to be the prince. Then I started to wonder if this seemed too obvious, and wondered if the author was using double reverse psychology. But in the end, I think I was mostly convinced Kaden was the assassin :D
Sarah No you weren't. I think that was part of why the book was so good. Got me confused.
Chloe Salinas I got tricked even with the audiobook! The way I went back to listen to the voices in the different chapters then laid on the floor for an hour trying to figure out how I missed it 🤦🏻‍♀️
Abigail I am really glad that I was not the only one!!
achuwu Omg omg omg I should NOT have read this spoiler what the hell was i thinking why am i so stupid

NUUUUU
Rania yousife MY GOD!! ME TOO!! I JUST DISCOVERED IT . I THOUGH I GOT MIXED UP ABOUT THEM ,SINCE I STOP READING IT FOR A WHILE , BUT MAN !! NOW I SEE THINGS DIFFERENTLY ^^
Megan I thought I was the only one! It really confused me at first haha! At least I'm not alone

Todor09 For me, that was a very poorly written plot twist... It would be fine if everyone still wondered who is the assassin, not just swap the names, since I am not reading the English version I thought it was a mistake in the translation...
Caitlin Hunter Omg I just found out Kaden is the assassin and I am freaking out!! I just assumed it to be the other way around 😮
Jenni I feel like I need to read this again now that I know!! I'm DEAD!
Jen Thank you for asking this? I spent so long trying to figure out if I was incorrect. It was on purpose to be a switch on the reader's expectations, right?
Emily✨ Based on their physical decriptions I thought Rafe was the Assasin but the more we learned about their personalities I realized he was the Prince. I just knew I wanted her to end up with the Prince but also with Rafe so I was happy they ended up being the same person.

Amna TRUST ME I WAS SO CONFUSED TOO?! Kaden seemed so much more ~princely~ and he didn't have the nicks on his hand, which seems the asssassin thing? But whatever.
Lizzie Yeah! I was a little skeptical though because it just felt too obvious.
BADASS GRACE no . i also thought rafe was assassin. i also fell victim for mary e pearsons creativity.
