I saw this book in a discount store and picked it up because it looked interesting - there was no hint that it was part of a series and I only found out because I googled it, can it be read as a stand alone book? I don't really have the money to invest in the other books right now :s

Chelsea i believe it can be read as a stand alone. all the other books just link in a bit with each other.
