Hi Michael, I am really enjoying your books. I know people asked questions about riyria chronicles, but i want to know is there any future for riyria revelation to continue?
Michael J. Sullivan
Hey Rushi,
I'm glad you are enjoying the books. Thanks for reading them. When I wrote The Riyria Revelations it was conceived and written as a story with a well designed start and end. It took me a long time to write that plot and when I finally got the ending I wanted, I didn't think I would write anymore Royce and Hadrian. Period. I told the tale I wanted telling and I was moving on to other things.
But my wife, and a good number of readers had expressed how sad they were that the tales were over. As the series ended "just as I wanted them to." I felt that "tacking on" to the end of a series that I worked so hard to get "just right" might ruin what I had accomplished. It was this reason (plus the fact that the "origin story hadn't been told before) that I did Chronicles and went back in time.
You are not the only person who wants more "post Revelations" - and yes I have a lot of ideas of plots and adventures that could happen in that time line. But there are other things I want to get too first.
1. I want to show the "True" story about Nyphron and how he saved mankind and formed the First Empire -- I just got done with these books (5 of them, called...The First Empire).
2. I want to tell Essrahadon's story and detail the collapse of the empire (The Fall of Percepliquis).
3. I would LOVE to do a series with Nevrik and Jerish as the are on the run just after the Fall of Percepliquis.
4. I would like to have a book where where Yolric and Kile finally meet and settle their scores.
5. I would like a book with Mercy and Allie.
6. I have a book based in Calais that I outlined two years ago and still haven't had a chance to write.
7. And I could see a post Revelation story.
8. More Riyria Chronicle tales (assuming people still want more with Royce and Hadrian).
That's a lot of books - especially given I also want to write "non-Elan" novels as well. I'm not sure what order I'm going to do things in. The First Empire stuff was top on the list but I've finished those now.
That's a long way of saying...yes there is a possibility...but there are also a lot of competing stories to tell and only so many hours in the day. So, we'll see.

As of right now, I'm halfway through Age of War and have finished all the Chronicles and Revelations. I have enjoyed your books very much. I realize that not characters are all "good" or all "bad", but in the Legends series, you sure don't like the Fhrey very much. Can you speak to why this is? Even the fall of Rome didn't result in former Romans being reviled as elves are in the Chronicles/Revelations.
