Betts asked Kristen Ashley:

Hi, I read the Unfinished Hero series and I just wanted to tell you that what I liked most was your books is that portrays young, and independent women that can go through life being successful and reaching ther goals. I found it inspiring and make me realize that anybody can make their dreams come true based on the work and effort. Thank you. What was the inspiration for you to do that? Greetings from Mexico

Kristen Ashley I come from a line of strong women. My grandmother. My mother. My sister. My aunts. They are not shrinking violets :-) and life threw them a LOT of curveballs. By word, and more importantly, deed, they showed me the way not to let life clobber you, bring you to your knees to the point you're beaten and you stay there. They always fought their way up, no matter what brought them low or how heavy it was to push against to lighten the load.

And since that was what I was taught, I've done the same. It is NOT easy. But they were huge inspirations to me.

So when I started writing, I injected the goodness they taught me into my books to give to my readers. Of course, when I started writing, I only dreamed of having readers. But now I get to give their goodness to those who read my books.

Makes their legacy all the more beautiful. At least to me. :-)
