The book is completely different than the HBO series, it's a collection of Candace Bushnell's articles from the NY Observer. These articles are from mid-1990's NYC. Reading it now is like reading a time capsule of how a certain age-group dealt with sex, relationships and life in 1990s Manhattan. It's rather quaint compared to today....
