I'm pretty sure it was meant that Anne (America's head maid) died during the last attack but "gone" has so many meanings. Did she die or did she just leave?

Everyone was wrapped up in the euphoria of the wedding, and soemhow forgot about the dozens of their dead loved ones? It doesn't make sense to me. Additionally, I dont think Anne ever knew about Lucy and Aspen, which makes me mad, since she deserved to know the truth. I think killing her was really out of convenience. The author had to kill of at least one of the maids. By killing Anna of she eliminated Lucy's competition and also gave up someone who had no family or anything she left behind. It made me sad how the author viewed this character, as if she was nothing to America herself. She was one of the most mature maids, she saved America's life with the gun wound, and the author thought her an easy character to kill of that wouldn't leave behind any love interests pining over her death.(less)
