Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dmitri Poletaev As you could probably guess it out - in Fort Ross National Historic Park. Fort Ross transformed me. For the first time, I found myself in this Russian settlement and fortress, in Northern California, in 1995. Since then this place didn't let me go. So often, over the years, I have dreamed of the old Fort, that I began to think that, on some transcendental level, I've already been there once. All my newly acquired knowledge started begging me to let it out. It became unbearable! I noticed, with a bit of concern, that my delirium began to spread out of my dreams and started to render influence on my real life. And then the incredible happened. I "fell through" Time and ended up in the Fort Ross of 1820 ...
I know it's hard to believe, and I don't insist. I'm just telling my story about that fascinating chapter in American history and how was it all in reality. And it's clear to me now that one novel wouldn't cover everything I have to tell. The work on the second book, "Specters of Fortune," already coming to an end, it's in hands of the editors now. And the third story is already in line ...
